PROJECT STATUS
Tethys app is currently in active development.
The application can already communicate with a COSMIQ+ Gen 4 over Bluetooth, download dive logs and process dive data. I am continuing to reverse engineer the COSMIQ+ communication protocol while building the rest of the application around it.
Development build
The following functionality is implemented in the current development build:
- Bluetooth connection to COSMIQ+ Gen 4
- Dive-log download
- Local dive storage
- Local dive logbook
- UDDF, CSV and JSON export
- Dive-site coordinates
- Gear profiles
- Certification cards
- Support for multiple dive computers
- Reading and changing selected settings that are not safety-critical
Implemented does not necessarily mean publicly released. Some features currently exist only in the development build.
Verified on real hardware
- Device: COSMIQ+ Gen 4
- Firmware: 1.8
- Connection: Bluetooth Low Energy
Other COSMIQ generations, firmware versions and Android devices still require testing with real hardware.
Publicly available
Tethys Probe is available for download. It is a separate read-only diagnostic application designed to help identify and test COSMIQ+ hardware.
Tethys Probe reads available device information and creates a diagnostic report that you can inspect before sharing. It does not change settings or write data to the dive computer.
The full Tethys app has not been publicly released yet.
Device support
Development is currently based on a COSMIQ+ Gen 4, which is the device available for direct testing.
Support for other COSMIQ and COSMIQ+ generations cannot be guaranteed yet. Compatibility must be confirmed with real devices before a generation can be marked as supported.
One of the current goals is to find owners of other COSMIQ generations who may be willing to provide device information or help with testing.
Data access and interoperability first
The current priority for Tethys app is reliable access to dive data: downloading logs directly from the COSMIQ+ and making them easy to use outside the application.
Tethys is being designed to export dive data through Android’s built-in sharing functionality and to support integration with established dive-log platforms and services.
Building a separate cloud platform is not a current priority. The immediate focus is reliable device communication, portable data and compatibility with tools that divers already trust and use.
Want to help?
If you own a COSMIQ or COSMIQ+ — particularly a generation other than Gen 4 — you can help by providing information about your device or testing Tethys Probe.
Please get in touch and include your device model, firmware version, Android phone model and Android version.
